We've been running an ADSM 3.1 server for some years and are now
playing with the 5.1.1 TSM linux client (on RedHat 7.1/3) as there's
no ADSM client for Linux. We'we tested carefully that it works for
our simple backup/restore purposes.

However, the TSM client's handling of automounted directories is
causing trouble. We use the automounter both for accessing indidual
disks (/home/...) and user home directories (/users/...) locally
and over the network.

The problem is that TSM will not back up any local catalogue that is
also automounted. Making a directory a 'Virtualmountpoint' seems to
solve the problem but as our next server is going to store the files
of hundreds of users, this is not attractive.

I've been experimenting for hours with the 'domain' option but have not
reached any working solution. Files in a automounted directory are
not backed up or they are expired during the next incremental backup run.
I've been suggested to use the 'automount' option, but the documentation
states that it is not supported under Linux and the client seems to
ignore it.

I would be grateful to hear if there's a solution to the
problem. It does not matter much if I have backup the physical disk
mountpoint (/a/home/...) or the automount point (/home/...).
