Hi Sascha Bräuning

Yes we are doing it in a few places, and I don't recommend using your LAN
for it. I one place we insert another LAN adapter in the client and the TSM
server and made a dedicated LAN just for those huge clients - This is the
cheap way out of the situation. if you are dealing with one huge file, that
is 300 gig of data that is a database or something like that I strongly
recommend you to consider SAN, that is the professional way.

hope this helps.

Hi,

what is your opinion about backing up or restoring 300GB data with TSM
within 12 hours from one client? Possible or not? Do I have to use a SAN
that I get acceptable transfer rates? If there is anybody out there who
backs up such a big amount of data:

How is your "TSM"-area constructed? (e.g. Server-type, LAN, SAN ...)
