Might want to double check the manual...
States that if you want to use multiple paths to the same server, and have
manual password you need to
1) not have a "NODE blah" in your dsm.sys SErver entries...
2) use a different node name for each different path to the server...
So say you have server_a and server_b (the two paths to "server")
then you will want to have your nodes be "node PV1" and "node PV1_B" and
will need both of those registered...
or maybe PV1_A & PV1_B

Hi,
I reduced my maxsessions to from 16 to 8 and reduced sessions per backup
path from 8 to 4 sessions and receive the following:
Tivoli Data Protection for R/3
Interface between SAPDBA Utilities and Tivoli Storage Manager
- Version 3, Release 2, Level 0.4 for WinNT -
Build: 138O compiled on Aug 1 2001
(c) Copyright IBM Corporation, 1996, 2001, All Rights Reserved.
BKI0005I: Start of backint program at: 08/20/02 08:21:55 .
BKI1214E: TSM Error: '!S!'
BKI1203E: Not enough sessions available (7 required and 4 available).
BR233E Backup utility has reported an error while saving file
J:\ORACLE\PV1\SAPDATA3\PROTI_1\PROTI.DATA1
BR233E Backup utility has reported an error while saving file
G:\oracle\PV1\sapbackup\cntrl.dbf
The second backup path is not connecting. We are using this for performance
and we are going to a disk pool and migrating to tape. Is there a limitation
with disk storage pools as a posed to Tape storage pools?
Thanks

Hi Joel
TDP for R/3 is working properly with the existing configuration in your
"initPV1.utl" file.
You can check by issuing "q sess" while backup are in progress. You can only
find 7 sessions of production backup.
If you want to use the second adapter card for performance improvement
do the following changes in "e:\oracle\PV1\817\database\initPV1.utl" file
( I assumed 8 drives are there in your library ).
MAX_SESSIONS 8
SERVER server_a # Servername
SESSIONS 4 # Max sessions
PASSWORDREQUIRED YES # Use a password
ADSMNODE PV1
BRBACKUPMGTCLASS DB # Mgmt-Classes
BRARCHIVEMGTCLASS LOG # Mgmt-Classes
SERVER server_b # Servername
SESSIONS 4 # Max sessions
PASSWORDREQUIRED YES # Use a password
ADSMNODE PV1 # Tivoli Storage Manager Nodename
BRBACKUPMGTCLASS DB # Mgmt-Classes
BRARCHIVEMGTCLASS LOG # Mgmt-Classes
in this case both the adaptercards will be used.
If you want to use the second adapter card for disaster recovery( second
card as spare)
do the following changes in "e:\oracle\PV1\817\database\initPV1.utl" file
( I assumed 8 drives are there in your library ).
MAX_SESSIONS 8
SERVER server_a # Servername
SESSIONS 8 # Max sessions
PASSWORDREQUIRED YES # Use a password
ADSMNODE PV1
BRBACKUPMGTCLASS DB # Mgmt-Classes
BRARCHIVEMGTCLASS LOG # Mgmt-Classes
SERVER server_b # Servername
SESSIONS 8 # Max sessions
PASSWORDREQUIRED YES # Use a password
ADSMNODE PV1 # Tivoli Storage Manager Nodename
BRBACKUPMGTCLASS DB # Mgmt-Classes
BRARCHIVEMGTCLASS LOG # Mgmt-Classes
in this case only first adapter card will be used.If the first card is
down, the second card will be used.
Hope this information is useful to you
