error definining a drive in a 3494 library after install

Subject:	error definining a drive in a 3494 library after install

After an installation of a new tapedrive in a3494 library I got the
following errors.
Activity log:
                               DEFINE DRIVE 3494LIB drive3 DEVICE=/dev/rmt3
ONLINE=YES
08/08/02 14:07:28     ANR8779E Unable to open drive /dev/rmt3, error
number=22.
08/08/02 14:07:28     ANR8420E DEFINE DRIVE: An I/O error occurred while
accessing drive DRIVE3.

The tapedrive is installed and in 'available' status on AIX. Defining them
to TSM gives this errors. Does somebody recognize them and know what to do?
