Tom,

In the manual TSM 4.2 for AIX, Quick Start (GC35-0402-01), there is a
section (p 11) that describes how to set up multiple servers on one box
(for each instance you export the DSMSERV_DIR to
/usr/tivoli/tsm/server1/bin or /usr/tivoli/tsm/server2/bin and you have
installed the binaries into the different locations). You edit each
rc.adsmserv batch file to export the specific env. variables for that
particular server. For your clients to point to the right server, you have
the option tcpport defined to whatever port you designated when defining
the server.

Whenever you would run thru smitty to update due to PTFs or upgrades, you
would point it to the specific /.../serverX/bin against which you would
want the update applied.

There is a caveat tho, the manual says that the 32-bit
(tivoli.tsm.server.rte) and 64-bit server (tivoli.tsm.server.aix5.rte64)
are mutually exclusive. "They cannot reside on the same machine at the
same time."

Does this help any?

Thanks for the reply Lisa.
Any chance you could be a little more descriptive?
How do install a PTF to one version and not affect
all the others? This might be obvious but not to me.
I would like to establish a test environment on the
same machine also.
Thanks again.
Tom
