Hi Paul,

Offhand, I can't explain why you are seeing what you are seeing. One thing
you could try, if you are willing, is to code MEMORYEFFICIENTBACKUP YES on
one or two machines and see how it performs in comparison. But from my
checking, specifying NO still remains the same as not coding the option at
all.

Andy,
We believe that the default for MEMORYEFFICIENTBACKUP may be broken.  We
had
several servers that we changed from no specification of
MEMORYEFFICIENTBACKUP to MEMORYEFFICIENTBACKUP NO and found that they ran
consistently 15 to 25 percent faster.  We are using 4.2.1.20 and 4.2.1.26
on
2 different servers and found this.  These servers are NT 4 6.0a with 380K
and 515K files on them respectively.
