We have both of the suggested scenarios: an Irix server with Irix clients,
and out TDP for R/3 backs up files of up to about 6 GB. So you've given me
plenty to look at.

Thanks for the help so far. Any further comments are welcomed - I'm still
in the dark about why this is happening.
