   No kidding!  We've actually seen 3590-carts become write protected from
the 3494 robot slamming it back into its slot and causing the tab to move
to write-only.

  Its probablly when its marginally incorrect that it occurs. But there's
proof that that's it, because the tape has record of being written on &
then 'suddenly' becomes  R/O or unavailable.

Happened again just last night!!
