We tested EMULEX before it was supported on the Magstar in a SAN and were
unsuccessful. Eventually, IBM fixed the microcode in the 3590 drives and
the Magstar driver. I highly recommend that you run the highest level
drivers when doing SAN tape unless IBM SAN Central specifically says a
specific combination works best.

We dropped EMULEX LP8000s and went with QLOGIC QLA2200F on our NT servers
because we use ESS (Shark) and Qlogic was the only one supported on both.
But, that has problems as well that we are working through with IBM.
However, we are running very successfully on Windows 2000 so long as we do
not try to do ESS Microcode updates with Windows 2000 servers up. But, that
problem is going to be fixed shortly.

I made the comment because I know that IBM required specific driver levels
for it to work, though others at higher levels may also work. Good Luck.
