Have you tried using (nohup ....... ) around the call for the second script
from the first one.  We have seen this problem before and it has something
to do with the shell.  I cannot say this will fix the problem, but it may
help.  You may also need to put a pipe to /dev/null for the output.  Don't
ask me why, it is just one of those quirky shell issues.
