The only diffrence between mksysb and the backup command is this.
mksysb Tape has 4 Sectors
BOS Boot Image
Blocksize=512
Witch holds: Kernel, Device Drivers
mkinsttape image
Bloksize=512
Witch holds: ./image.data, /tapeblksz, /bosinst.data, commands
dummy.toc
Blockzise=512
Witch holds: Dummy TOC (dosen´t do anything)
and last
Tape Drive BS
witch holds: rootvg data. (this data is exactly the same as you would use
the backup command)
Now the first 3 sectors canot be used when restoring TSM. you can however
backup this data with the DD command, but for what use?
what i am saying is this. the advantece of mksysb goes the minute you can´t
boot from the tape and you can´t boot a mksyb in TSM, becuase TSM handels
these 3 fist sectors as they where ordenary data.
