The problem we have with moving the drives to SCSI is that they are
also shared with several MVS guests running under VM.  They are also
used to do VM pack backups of several LINUX/390 guests/instances
running under the same VM.

We've been hoping LINUX would eventually be one of the keys
to reducing the number of platforms (i.e. consolodate some NT and AIX
functions).

It seems our choice is really to either move the TSM to one of the
OS/390 guests or to replicate some more drives on the AIX/SCSI side
of the library (trying to replicate 3590 drives would probably get
management to look at a larger Veritas/DLT library function as being
more economical).

Unfortunately, 3590 drives can't be dynamically switched
between ESCON/FICON and SCSI hosts as needed (even with a SAN in place).
