Gerald,

Did you verify that the VERDELETED parameter for the
backup copygroup is set to 0?

If it is anything greater than 0, then all of the
"expired" backups won't be immediately removed.
They will hang around until the number of days
specified by the RETONLY parameter of the copygroup.

Keep in mind, the "/ADSMDELETE" and the
"/ADSMAUTODELETE" commands simply force a
backup to the inactive state.  At that point,
the policy settings of the copygroup take over.
