Hello
Does anyone have this problem?
here is the copy of PMR which was posted to Tivoli,
.
Abstract:
TivWeb: Slow performance when archiving Novell Netware
.
Environment:
TSM Server ver. 4.1.4.0 on Microsoft NT platform
TSM Backup/Archive client ver. 4.1.1.18
.
Problem Description:
Customer has using TSM to backup and archive Novell
Netware servers ver.
5.1.
Previosly they have been using FDDI network topolgy. For
one year
everything was working just great!
When they have moved to Ethernet 1G network topolgy (all
the servers use
1G connections)
performance of archiving become very slow. There was
nothing changed on
TSM server or clients. Here is an example:
09/10/2001 09:01:22 Total number of objects inspected:
56,523
09/10/2001 09:01:22 Total number of objects archived:

Incremenal backup is O.K., i got the following results:

Hay
I have try to upgrade Novell client to ver. 4.1.3 but
there is no
improvment.
Mentioned fault is present on all three NW servers which
have identical
HW configuration:
NF 7000 M10, 1GB RAM, internal raid1 9GB, external
fiberhannel fc2200
180GB, occupied 60GB, 2x Xeon,
NW 5.1, network adapter 1G 3Com 3C996t
TSM server configuration is 500MB ram, 2x Pentium PRO
processor, 30GB
HDD, 1G 3Com network adapter, OS is MS NT 4.
Again i try with different performance parameters, i
noticed that
archiving to TSM server is fast but delay occurs when
Novell is
waiting for confirmation. Every 5 seconds when
archiving, novell waits
for confirmation about 1 minute. I noticed this from q
ses
command where all the time two sessions are opened and
Session state is
changing from IdleW to Run.
Please raise the severity of this PMR
regards, Marko
P.S.
I suspect Novell for this problems. From migration to
1G, customer is
using new Winsock modul and there was a lot
of problems with 3com giga adapter? But i"m asking
myself: Why this
error only occurs when archiving??
