I'm using TSM 4.1.4 with TEC 3.6.2 and inevitable patches.
ibmtsm.rls has syntax errors. It may be that syntax has changed with tec 3.7
Contact me directly if you want my fixed version.

Brian,

ibmtsm.mac is a sample provided by TSM to help with setting up your
environment. As it already exists, you do not need to re-create it.
It's really just a guideline; your group will want to review the
sample and see which events to include or not include.

You will only need to run the macro once per TSM Server installation.

You do not need to run the macro every time you re-start your TSM server.
TSM is smart enough to remember which events you have enabled or disabled.

You do not need to manually stop the macro as it will stop once it has
completed all of the enable / disable commands in the macro. It is
a pretty extensive list in the macro, so it may take a little while to
run on your system.

As you're likely configuring your TEC Server at the same time - ibmtsm.rls
is also only a sample. Feel free to modify the rules script to fit your
shop.

Hello,
Hello,

TSM Server 4.1 and AIX Server 4.3.3

We are using TEC to monitor our TSM environment. In TSM there is a
possibility to create a macro called ibmtsm.mac and define your own list
with messages that TSM will send to TEC instead of all messages
(errors,warnings,informationals,and so on).

We are intent to use that ibmtsm.mac macro but there is no information in
the guides about this macro. In the list-arhives I find that after you start
TSM you have to start the macro with macro ibmtsm.mac and you can only stop
it by halting TSM.

I am not familiar with scripts (just a beginner) and now I was wondering how
you can start the macro automatically when TSM is starting and how you can
stop the macro without halting TSM. Can this be done with macro's or
scripts?

Any help is welcome.

Greetings,

Brian Welsh
