We had a similar problem with message unknown verb.
The problem was not TSM (Server on MVS 2.8) but TCPIP within MVS.
Restore of large files could not successfully finished because of a buffer
overflow condition inside the IP stack of MVS, occurring at wraparound of
the sequence number of TCPIP.
