Hello Richard,
Thanks for your hint, it seems very plausible. For some silly reason, this
server has no active paging space. Later this week we have a downslot and
will try and fix this thing.
(We do monitor the usage of paging spaces (in percentage), but not whether
the paging spaces are active, it seemed like a safe assumption that at least
one paging space is active at any time...)

Trace/BPT trap(coredump)
Has been seen when swap space was not active on an AIX system.
Also, assure that the file system in which server resources are
located
is not full, and has sufficient elbow room for any additional
space
that it needs.
