Jeff - Each lmcp_ device is tied to a library name in /etc/ibmatl.conf.
There is an lmcp_ device for each library you will communicate with,
as configured with SMIT in AIX. The lmcpd daemon serves the single
/etc/ibmatl.conf (whose name is hard-coded into the module) and all the
libraries defined within it. Hence, only the one service port is defined
in /etc/services.
Assuming you are AIX, your single /etc/lmcpd is started via the 'cfgmgr'
that is done at boot time, per definitions configured into the /etc/objrepos
and /etc/methods/ database system.
For details, see the manual:
"IBM SCSI Tape Drive, Medium Changer, and Library Device Drivers:
Installation and User's Guide" (GC35-0154)
