Actually I am having an ongoing problem with Version 4.1.3 running on AIX
4.3.3. Seems that whenever one of my DLT tape drives wants to be cleaned
the Tivoli Server Crashes. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens
often enough that it is a problem. I have an open PMR with IBM (IC29818),
and they agree that there is a problem (and with several other customers),
but there is "No Fix Available at this time" I was asked about a week ago
if I would be willing to install some special "Debug" code. I said yes and
now I have yet to hear from IBM or see any kind of new code.

I upgraded from ADSM Ver 3.1.52 to Ver 4.1.3 several months ago when I was
told that support for 3.1 was being dropped. It worked fine for about a
month before the first crash. So needless to say I can't fall back to the
3.1 code now (since its been so long and there is no support) and I can't
move forward (nothing is available). So here I am stuck in the same IBM
trap that I always get into when ever there is a problem with the software.

I have been less then satisfied by the support I have gotten over the years
with this product, and I am now seriously looking into other solutions to
my backup needs.

We have AIX 4.3.2 - We are using TSM 4.1.0 and having minimal problem with
it. We did upgrade to TSM 4.1.2 and we had problem with our Archive jobs.
One archive job we did usually ran for 2 hours. When we went to 4.1.2 it
took over 15 hours... Not acceptable of course! So we went back to 4.1.0
and
the archive ran okay. IBM Support is still working on this. I seems that
no one else in the ADSM-L AT VM.MARIST DOT EDU <mailto:ADSM-L AT VM.MARIST DOT

land
was having this trouble.
