Lisa,

If you are referring to the remote installation feature in the 4.1 client, IT
DOESN'T WORK. Yet.

I have an open PMR on that issue.

After upgrading the server to 4.1.2, I started playing with the 4.1 clients and
discovered the remote installation feature in the configuraton wizard. I tried
to make it work using both 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 Windows clients and never could.

When I called it into Tivoli, they asked me to send screen shots of what I was
doing because they couldn't find those options in their software (!).

They called back and said, "yep, that doesn't work." So I assume someone in
development is working on a fix. Being able to push the executables out to
client PCs would have been nice.

Good luck.

Hello, it's me again.

I an trying out the new feature in dsmcutil, where you can copy necessary files
for the services from a source directory, and replace if newer.

When I run this command

c:\progra~1\tivoli\tsm\baclient\dsmcutil.exe install Scheduler /NAME:"TSM
Central Scheduler Service" /NODE:%COMPUTERNAME% /PASSWORD:%COMPUTERNAME%
/autostart:yes /CLIENTDIR:c:\progra~1\tivoli\tsm\baclient\test /copyfiles
/replace:yes /SRCDIR:c:\progra~1\tivoli\tsm\Locals~1

This is the error I get.

c:\progra~1\tivoli\tsm\Locals~1\dsmcsvc.dll -> \\\c$\progra~1\tivoli\tsm\baclien
t\test\dsmcsvc.dll

Error 123 from CopyFile.

Since I've correctly specified the client dir, where does it come up with the
\\\c$ and why doesn't it copy it there-- Error 123 is The filename, directory
name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

And then, after an install, and making sure are the required files are in the
right directory, I try to update the service, and I get this.

P:\TSM_install_NT>c:\progra~1\tivoli\tsm\baclient\dsmcutil.exe update Scheduler
/NAME:"TSM Central Scheduler Service" /NODE:%COMPUTERNAME% /PASSWORD:%COMPUTERNA
ME% /autostart:yes /CLIENTDIR:c:\progra~1\tivoli\tsm\baclient

The service couldn't be located .

Can anyone else duplicate, or am I dealing with my own demon here?

TIA,
Lisa
