We have the same problem with one of our Netware 5.0 servers after we
upgraded the Service Pack to 6A.  We applied the service pack to all 5.x
boxes (about 10), however only 1 is having problems.

Have you tried using a period in front of the name?

eg.

.backupuser.orgunit.org
