Jonathan,
Despite the hassles, I would recommend this migration for two reasons. First,
BUTA is supported by ADSM, and BUTC is supported by Transarc. In my
dealings with Transarc support I have been more successfull with AFS backup
type problems than with ADSM support. Also, I have not been happy with buta
over the life of the product. BUTC now supports the XBSA environment, which
means TSM. It appears to be much more stable and bug free in our testing
to date.
By the way, you can use deletedump from the backup interface to delete the
buta dumps from the AFS backup database. The only extra step you need to do
is run 'delbuta -s' to synchronize the ADSM server. Do this after each
deletedump run, and you should be all set.
