I've done this type of move before.  It does work, just follow the AIX Install 
manual on how to do.  You definitely need the AIX CD that is at the SAME level 
as your current machine.  Also if you have applied any PTF's etc. you should 
reapply them on new macine as there will be new code/filesets there now that 
didn't have these applied.

I remember reading that the mksysb from MCA to PCI machine will work,
however you must have the AIX cdrom in the drive during the restore so it
can grab some of the PCI lpp's that are necessary.  I've never done it
before, so YMMV.
