>I need to restore last month's backup of our *SM database temporarily
Krish - If you have sufficient disk space (unlikely) it would be ideal to
leave your current server config untouched and restore the temp
server config to other space.
Otherwise, you have to take over the existing space.
Make sure after shutting down your current server that you make a file copy
of the devconfig and volhist files, and compare those with what is there after
your temp server shuts down, being ready to put back the old ones.
Be sure also to make a copy of the most vital file, dsmserv.dsk.
>7. start server
Start it with the NOEXPIRE command line option, to keep expiration from
automatically starting.
Before starting the temp server, add DISABLESCHEDS YES to the server options
file.
After starting the temp server, do Disable Sessions, Disable Events.
>8. checkin volumes
Why? All your volumes from the beforetime should be reflected in the
db you restored.
