HELP! DLT Tape Library Management (Scratch)!
2000-07-11 11:03:29
Hello all
I'm trying to configure a TSM Server for Windows NT with a Quantum DLT 7000
Library. The library contains 4 Tapes. The following commands successfully
worked:
LABEL LIBVOLUME LB0.0.0.1 SEARCH=YES LABELSOURCE=PROMPT CHECKIN=SCRATCH
OVERWRITE=YES
TSM asked me for 4 tape labels, I used TAPE1, TAPE2, TAPE3 and TAPE4.
Also this command worked:
CHECKIN LIBVOLUME LB0.0.0.1 STATUS=SCRATCH CHECKLABEL=YES SWAP=YES MOUNTWAIT=60
SEARCH=YES
This way I have now 4 scratch tapes.
Then I used with scratch=yes (I could not change to scratch affter I used the
label wizard):
BACKUP DB devclass=dltclass1 scratch=yes type=full
TSM first used TAPE1, after I reissued the command again, it used TAPE2, then
TAPE3 and finaly TAPE4. Then it terminated with:
ANR1405W Scratch volume mount request denied - no scratch volume available.
ANR4578E Database backup/restore terminated - required volume was not mounted.
ANR0985I Process 9 for DATABASE BACKUP running in the BACKGROUND completed with
completion state FAILURE at 15:46:37.
The status of the tapes was now set to >private< instead of >scratch<.
Can anyone help me and tell me, what commands I have to use to define a scratch
volume library with those tapes so TSM will automatically use the required
tapes and after defragmentation uses again free tapes.
Any help is welcome!
Thank you
Regards
