Subject: ANR2002E in scripts

I'm trying to install the scripts from scripts.smp and consistently die
with ANR2002E. Some creative editing of the file indicates that it isn't
unmatched quotes that cause the error but the GT (>) sign, whether in the
desc field or the select statement. Is this correct? Anyway around
it? I'm running 3.1.2.55 on AIX 4.3.2.
