Take a look at the boot.ini file to make sure it is pointing to the
proper place on your hardrive for the C: partition. You may have to
change the attribs to do this, it is a simple text file. The boot.ini
file points to partitions as they are numbered in FDISK and does not
see drive letters ... they are assigned as the os is loading. You can
find the specs for the boot.ini file in the NT resource Kit reference.
(ARC Pathnames page 690-697.) I have had this error when fooling
around with NT restores and it happened to me when I was trying to
boot into a partition with no OS.
The basic method you describe is ok with Kelly's addition of the
registry copy.
The BMR Redbook also talks about building a diskette to use for boot
control, this is useful at a time like this when things don't go
exactly as you expect. Eric Lewis UW-Madison

You will want to copy the registry files restored to c:\adsm.sys\... to
c:\winnt\system32\config for sure. As to the error you are getting, I'm not
sure.
