I bet what they are looking for is "how fast is the server going".

You could have a bunch of intermittent sessions, each limited by,say, a
10mpbs card, and average them to get a really crummy number. Meanwhile
your TSM server is sitting idle most of the day.

So if you want to see the throughput of the TSM server, do this:
1. make sure no sessions are running at midnight.
2. kick off all the nodes simultaneiously at midnight.
3. don't kick off any other sessions until those finish.
4. look at the accounting records (dsmaccnt.log, field 17 is
KB backed up) and do a running total on that field for
all those sessions. So it'll look like:

nodea 184 184
nodeb 20 204
nodec 100 304
               ^--- running total
etc.

Then, at the end of the last session, look at the timestamp - say it all
took 4 hours -
and you can say in 4 hours the server processed 87 Gigabytes of data.

Now, it MIGHT have done MORE - you still may be limited by network cards
and such - but if you look at CPU and disk activity also during the
night (assuming the box is dedicated to TSM), that should give you a
good feel for how much extra capacity you have on the server.
