Hello:

I was asked the following ADSM question which I don't know how to answer,
and hope somebody here will be able to help.

The client reportedly has an ADSM server/library with 4 tape drives in it.
In the past they were not using disk storage pools and he claims that they
never had contention problems with the tape drives. The server was moved to
new hardware, and ever since the move whenever more than 4 sessions are
active they start having problems.

For example, they have four clients backing up at the same
time, going directly to tape. (ie. 1 session per tape
drive.) When a 5th client tries to backup it fails because
there is not a tape drive available to handle the request.
The client claims in the past, the 5th client would wait
until one of the drives was available, then continue. He
also claims he would have up to 15 sessions running at the
same time against the 4 tape drives.( ie 4 active and 11
waiting.)

Using disk pools is not an option for the client.

Any ideas on how to reconfigure the server so that it will accept more than
4 sessions would be appreciated.
