Re: Fail to Schedule Daily Tape Checkin

Wanda/Jialin
I'm running the server on SUN Solaris v2.6 (ADSM 3.1.2.1), same for the
client (3.1.06).
As for the library type - ours is a 3590 with a 10-slot ACL (auto cartridge
loader) which ADSM treats as a SCSI library. Whereas Jialin's library was a
3494. We have a second server (same everything) except its attached to a
3494 containing only 3590 drives. I tried setting up a schedule with
Jialin's command as an administrative command schedule with the following
successful results:
"03/22/2000 10:42:02 ANR2017I Administrator M260634 issued command: DEFINE
SCHEDULE TEST_FOR_RIK Type=Admin CMD="checkin libv ATLAK1 search=yes
status=scr devtype=3590" Description="Test of the CHECKIN command in a 3494
tape library" Active=Yes Priority=5 StartDate=03/22/2000 StartTime=10:45
Duration=1 DurUnits=HOURS Period=1 PerUnits=DAYS DayOfWeek=ANY
Expiration=Never
03/22/2000 10:42:02 ANR2577I Schedule TEST_FOR_RIK defined."
So I was able to define the command as a schedule successfully. The
schedule executed as follows:
"03/22/2000 10:45:19 ANR2750I Starting scheduled command TEST_FOR_RIK (
checkin libv ATLAK1 search=yes status=scr devtype=3590 ).
03/22/2000 10:45:19 ANR2017I Administrator M260634 issued command: CHECKIN
libv ATLAK1 search=yes status=scr devtype=3590
03/22/2000 10:45:19 ANR0984I Process 70 for CHECKIN LIBVOLUME started in
the BACKGROUND at 10:45:19 AM.
03/22/2000 10:45:19 ANR8422I CHECKIN LIBVOLUME: Operation for library
ATLAK1 started as process 70.
03/22/2000 10:45:19 ANR2756I Scheduled command TEST_FOR_RIK started
successfully.
03/22/2000 10:45:21 ANR8443E : Volume U20319 in library ATLAK1 cannot be
assigned a status of SCRATCH.
03/22/2000 10:45:21 ANR8431I CHECKIN LIBVOLUME process completed for
library ATLAK1; 0 volume(s) found.
03/22/2000 10:45:21 ANR0985I Process 70 for CHECKIN LIBVOLUME running in
the BACKGROUND completed with completion state SUCCESS at 10:45:21 AM.
03/22/2000 10:52:45 ANR2017I Administrator M260634 issued command: QUERY
ACTLOG"
So although it found nothing to do, the command was able to execute. Unlike
yours and Jialin's. Maybe it is the later version of ADSM.
But just a further question: when I look up the message definition for
ANR2755E in the ADSM v3.1 manual online on the webpage, I see:
"ANR2755E DEFINE SCHEDULE or UPDATE SCHEDULE parameter CMD='command' - not
eligible for scheduling.
Explanation: The specified command is not eligible for scheduling.
System Action: The DEFINE SCHEDULE or UPDATE SCHEDULE command is not
processed.
User Response: None"
Which is different from the error message you are quoting me.
Do you have a different version message manual from me?? The weblink I
lookup is:
http://www.tivoli.com/support/storage_mgt/adsm/pubs/v3pubs/em/aix/html/admm
sg/a45cms.htm
which is the only one I can find and seems to be okay for all the messages
I've looked up so far.
