you can certainly re-use tapes. Just be aware of the labels. IE if a tape
has been used for a mksysb and you want to re-use it for TSM/ADSM, you will
need to dsmlabel or label libv it. If it's an old TSM tape, then mksysb
should be able to re-write the tape straight away.
Just be careful the tapes really are obsolete! There's no OS-level tape
tracking with AIX so either application (TSM or mksysb) will happily
overwrite each other's tapes when you tell it. Also, if a tape has returned
to scratch from TSM, you will want to check it out of your library so that
TSM releases it from its inventory. Otherwise it may may try to use it in
the future when you've already re-used it for mksysb or something else.
