You say 1 hour to back up 2.5 gigs... that may not be accurate... *SM is not
just backing up data and files... it first compares the objects against it's
database, then decides if the objects need to be backed up...

You file server may only send 2.5 Gigs of data... but it may have skipped
over 1,000,000 objects to do so... this takes time...

An other item to check out for... is your disk Storage pool large enough for
this backup? If you start having many migrations processes during your
backups, this may slow down your *SM server...
