I seem to remember a similar problem caused by an unreadable file.
Check your DSMSCHED.LOG for errors. In our case, the backup would
start to backup the drive containing the bad file, then, when it hit the bad
file, it would skip the rest of that drive and skip to the next drive. The
backup would
then complete normally.
