It's not the unlimited that's getting you, it's the 90s.  Unless you are
doing multiple backups/day, you're only going to have 90 copies of any given
file based on the retention period of 90 days.

Your understanding of what happens if you delete a file with verexists = 30
and verdeleted = 1 is correct.  When the file is deleted, the next
expiration processing will delete the 29 oldest copies of the file and keep
the last one (what was the active version) for retonly days.
