backup.  Yes, LAN free is available in the context of a SAN, and may even be
in a wide area, but not in this case.

There is some confusion about the term LAN free backup in this context.  The
original poster is advised to consider this as LAN free restore, not backup.
Backups still traverse the network to the TSM server. It's the restores that
can be accomplished with the LAN by writing a backupset to some portable
media and taking it to the client wishing the restore.

I think what the original poster wanted was to create the backupset on the
client and then move it to the server.  That's not what this does.
