Tony meant to say index.storsys.ibm.com. you'll find the Atape driver under
the devdrvr/AIX directory.

You should also pick up a copy of the IBM_scsi_tape_IUG while you're there.

Hi Marc,

Did you install the Atape driver ???

Basically AIX will see the device as an "Other SCSI tape device" and not
as a Magstar tape device.
Install the drivers and "rmdev -dl rmt?" and then run "cfgmgr -v". You can
get the latest drivers from
storsys.index.ibm.com.

The "define drive" command looks okay.

Check SMITTY and talk with your CE --- maybe look up and decode the error
data; you may need to redefine the devices to AIX, make sure your AIX
drivers are installed, run cfgmgr (rather than manually defining devices to
AIX), then delete and re-do DEFINEs (LIBR and DRIVE) to TSM. If smitty
hangs, you gotta reboot the machine --- that can happen if someone's been
popping serial cables/options while the system is running.

Don
