I would also be selective and discrete with my DR data.  That is, I would
ensure that the most important, rather than all of the data is optimized in
my copy storage pool.  In most environments, I would think the amount of
mission critical data is perhaps far less than the total.  One would want to
restore that data first and fast with the rest following at a more leisurely
pace.  Obviously this is hard: you must determine where the important data
is and treat it appropriately.  Much easier to treat all data the same.  The
problem is cost.  You really don't have any problems if you have enough
$$$$$$.

By designing like this one could probably save a bunch of money and time.

I would also ask the original poster if a DR test was performed before this
full/incremental scheme was implemented.  How slow was the restore of the
data like this?  Oftentimes we assume the worst with ADSM.  We should really
try the default behavior to see if it meets our needs.  If it doesn't we
should use other techniques to improve our lots.  Collocation in copy
storage pools is very expensive from a tape consumption view.  Full backups
are very expensive from almost every view.
