Where did you read that directory data is held in the database ?

Up till now I've known this to be true for UNIX clients but not true
(for a long time) for Novell clients and recently an IBM *SM
specialist revealed to me the that if you've got NT clients it would
be handy to set up a DIRMC for these clients.

Would anybody like to comment on this, we've just started setting up a
3.7 server on AIX and one of the first things we did was setup a DIRMC
for NT and Novell clients !

     regards Walter Ridderhof.

We are in the planning phase for TSM 3.7 from ADSM 3.1.2.40.

I've read that DIRMc in the client options will no longer give us any
benefits because the directory information is retrieved from the database
during the restore process.

Can anyone tell me how this works? Are directories backed up again after 3.7
implementation and stored in the data base? Would the data base need to be
increased because of this before TSM 3.7 is installed?
