Scottie,
this function is achieved by activating the resourceutilization client option. 
But the activation of this option doesn't necessarily mean that you will backup 
faster. There a few other factors that can slow you
down significantly, like: memory on the server and client, speed of your 
network, speed of your drives, etc. . The multiple sessions function works and 
works really good on TSM 3.7, you just have to read about
this new option and adjust it to your environment.
