Hi Patrick

If you have a database backup, you can use it to restore your database. It
is a fairly simple procedure but I suggest you consult the administrator's
guide (page 437 or so) and follow the steps as the order is important. If
you have an older database backup (point in time), you can use the recovery
log (providing your db was in rollforward mode) to restore to the latest
state. If you don't have any of the above, you may have to play data
detective.
Although I've never tried it myself, I'm told it is possible to recover data
from a volume but this implies knowing which volumes the data you are
looking for is on. It also involves a lot of fancy footwork and eternal life
if you don't know which volume the data is on. I guess it all depends on how
valuable your data is.
