Actually, I thought it stood for Volume Control Region. This message
means it is invalid, and the tape drive is reading to find the
end-of-data, so as to rebuild the VCR data. VCR data may become invalid
for a variey of reason, one of which is a write error. If the VCR data is
successfully rebuilt, the tape should be fine. If it generates a
"HANDLELOSTVCR" error message, then it could not find the end-of-data. In
either case, moving the data is best. I usually track the reuse of the
tape, and return it to the vendor if I see another failure of any kind.
