Networking is not my strong suit.  I'll explain how that client communicates 
with
the ADSM server.

We've got a dedicated backup network and most of our machines have 2 nic cards.
The 2nd nic card is dedicated to the backup network.  That 2nd nic is a 100mb
ethernet set at full duplex.  A standard ethernet cable connects that card to a
3com 3900 switch. That switch (by the server farm) communicates with another 
3900
switch (next to the ADSM server) over fiber.  The ADSM server (RS/6000 S70) has 
a
gb card and connects to the 3900 switch by a fiber cable.

I should add that this is the only client that gets this type of throughput - 
even
though most have the same configuration.  The files on that server are VERY
large.  That node transfered 38.5 gb's, but only 54 files were backed up.
