I have to agree.  I am backing up a RCS repository from a H50 Server w/ AIX.
RCS uses the same naming conventions without a problem.  As a test, I
restored several files without any problems.

Have you tried restoring to a different directory as a test ?

Current levels:
Server - AIX 4.3.2.01 ( Maintenance release 1 )
         ADSM Server 3.1.2.40

Client - AIX 4.3.2.01 ( Maintenance release 1 )
         ADSM Client 3.1.0.6
