Yes, but it requires a backup hard disk that boots into the OS of your
choice be present on the system.

What ends up happening is you use the extra disk to restore the other disk,
then revert to the original hard disk upon bootup.  both disks should to
come into the ADSM Server with the same nodename

That's the only sure-fire way of avoiding those situations.

TDP for Workgroups(aka STAC REPLICA) is also available to do restores of
Disk Images on WinNT systems.  ADSM is supposed to be able to interface this
as well if you do not have a standalone tape drive.
