Nathan,

I have successfully implemented this at customer sites.
I believe the standard excludes are leftovers from the
old unsupported NT clients that did not support the Mac
filespaces, but with the newer version 3 clients Mac
filespaces are supported.

There is an option you will have to set on the NT
client's dsm.opt file:
