Hi!

Here's a question concerning automated rollout of AIX clients:

After switching a client to "passwordaccess generate", you have to type in
the password manually one more time. The client then stores the scrambled
password in /etc/security/adsm (for the AIX platform) and in the future
will no longer ask for it.

In order to force this kind of password processing during the rollout of
the client, we inserted into the rollout procedure (a ksh script started on
the client) a "dummy" command that we thought would do an initial login to
the server, e.g.

dsmc query backup / -servername=OURADSM -password=initial

However we observed that this command still asks for a password from the
keyboard inspite of the password option. Or it aborts with an
authentication failure if it runs detached from the ternimal. We also tried
input redirection, but that did not work either. Does anybody know a
solution? For several reasons we do not like to switch to open registration
and let the users do the job.

Regards,
Michael Abel
