I appreciate the help with Bare Metal restores, I do
have one question. After I restore the OS and applications the
instructions state to restore the registry from the command line. The
commands are as follows:

                Dsmc res c:\adsm.sys\registry\machinename\machine\*.*
c:\winnt\system32\config\
                Dsmc res c:\adsm.sys\registry\machinename\users\default
c:\winnt\system32\config\
                Dsmc res
c:\adsm.sys\registry\machinename\users\Administrator\*.*
c:\winnt\system32\config\

After I restore these registry Keys, it states to reboot
and everything should be fine. I do know that while in the ADSM GUI
there is a option to activate the key once it is restored, do you have
to do something like that for the command line? I am receiving the
following error when I reboot:

Windows NT could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt:
                \winnt\system32\config\systemHardware Profile/Last Known
Good menu

                Has anyone seen this before?

                Thank you for the help!

Have you followed the instructions as
per the redbook on bare metal
restores? It sounds as if you're not
creating a repair partition.

In order to rebuild the OS and
Applications correctly, you must first
install a second instance of WinnT in
say c:\winntrestore
Load the ADSM Client and perform the
restore.
This will allow ADSM to restore the OS
since none of the files will be in
                                use/ locked by the OS.

There's a bit more to it than this, for
more details checkout the redbook on

                                        Does anyone have information
about using NT Clients being backed-up
                                by a
                                        Unix ADSM server. We have
experienced successful restores of the NT
server OS's, however when we try
to restore the applications they
                                fail.
                                        Errors are received and the
applications are lost. Scenario: NT
                                4.0
                                        with IIS 4.0, several virtual
sites setup and when a backup is
                                complete,
we format the server and install
OS and ADSM backup client. Once
                                the
                                        client is installed the we
begin the restore. Aproximently 115
                                files
are not restored, many in the
winnt\system32 directory. The IIS is
                                not
                                        restored. Does anyone have any
experience trying to restore
                                        applications from a ADSM server
to the NT clients?
