I have noticed some of my 95 clients freeze while saving the registry and
have excluded it from backup.
Windows 95 makes copies of the registry from last successful boot process
called system.da0 and user.da0
when you need to recover the registry.
Try to do an incremental with the dsmc or GUI after you update your DSM.OPT
file with  "backupreg no"
