Jason,

IF you use OnBar for your backup of the Informix database, OnBar will start
as many parallel sessions as you configure in the onconfig file, and each
will start a separate session with the ADSM server.  Each session handles
one dbspace at a time, and they are stored in ADSM as separate objects.  So,
you should get parallel backups to the tapes.

I can't speak for SQL Backtrack, you'll have to check on that elsewhere.
