From your response, it would seem that I can only use the server name for
the /COMMSERVER:SERVERNAME option? I can not use the TCP/IP address number.
The reason why I ask this question is because some of our NT ADSM client
servers are not connecting to the ADSM server using the scheduling service
after having been working fine for a number of months. Perhaps a change in
DNS or routing tables then could be the problem if the server name was no
longer in the routing tables or in DNS. I can check this out.

Subject: Re: ADSM Windows NT Scheduler Service Configuration
Utility
"dsmcutil help" can give you the full description for each
commandline option.
Also, be careful with IP, hostname, adsm nodename definitions for
ADSM
clients. Because ADSM
use "ADSM Scheduler Service" to start the backup on client, and
this "Service"
is defined through
"dsmcuitil install", and dsmcutil uses "dsm.opt" for Service, and
this dsm.opt
should contain a valid
nodename, and this nodename IS USED BY ADSM SERVER to CONTACT Client
when
scheduled event
comes, AND ALSO THIS scheduled event on ADSM server is associted
(dsmadmc>q
assoc) to some
nodenames (clients).
that's the logic chain/...

Dmitri Chilovich
